Immigrant Survey

Because Your Story Counts!

Conducted every 2-3 years, the Immigrant Survey is for all immigrants in Unama’ki – Cape Breton who are age 16 or older. This includes anyone born outside of Canada who is now living, working or studying on the island (permanent residents, Canadian citizens, refugees, temporary residents, refugee claimants, and international students). The survey hears directly from immigrants about their experiences, challenges, diverse strengths they bring and contribute, as well as their suggestions for how to improve newcomer settlement and inclusion in Unama’ki – Cape Breton.

Those who fill out the survey help to:

  • Inform community planning for how to better support  immigrants and refugees to succeed; and
  • Share feedback with the member organizations of the Cape Breton Local Immigration Partnership (CBLIP) to improve the ways they are working with newcomers.

The 2026 survey was open from March 4th to March 25th. Survey reports are forthcoming and will be available on this page when complete. Many thanks to all participants for sharing their experiences, perspectives, and ideas for fostering welcoming and inclusive communities.
