Elementary & Secondary School

In Nova Scotia, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is responsible for children’s education, including early years, and primary to grade 12 in English and French in public schools across the province. There are many elementary and secondary schools located in communities across Cape Breton-Unama’ki. Schools are administered by the three bodies listed below. Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education (CBVRCE)

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is the jurisdiction for public schools in Victoria County and the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM). 

Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE)

The Strait Regional Centre for Education is the jurisdiction for public schools in Richmond and Inverness Counties on Cape Breton Island, as well as Antigonish and Guysborough Counties on the Nova Scotia mainland.

Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP)

The Conseil scolaire acadien provincial is Nova Scotia’s French-language school board. The CSAP is responsible for French as first-language education programs for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development with a number of concentrations in English-language as well. A number of CSAP schools exist in several Cape Breton communities.
