Through the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) network of 14 campuses, NSCC provides Nova Scotians with inclusive and flexible access to education and the specialized, industry-driven training for today and tomorrow’s workforce.
Locations
Cape Breton Island has two Nova Scotia Community College campuses providing high quality education and training for the local workforce in the skills needed by local industry. Combined, the two campuses have 3,400 students enrolled in full and part time programs. The campuses are: Sydney Waterfront Campus – Sydney and Strait Area Campus – Port Hawkesbury.
Campuses
Sydney Waterfront Campus
Located in Sydney, the Sydney Waterfront Campus is NSCC’s newest campus which offers a state-of-the-art space designed to meet the diverse needs of learners and the community. They offers over 30 diverse programs, new technologies, new features and enhanced spaces. Programming is delivered across the areas of business, trades and transportation, technology and environment, access, education and language, and health and human services.
Strait Area Campus
Located in Port Hawkesbury, the Strait Area Campus offers an extensive range of programs. The Campus is home to the Nautical Institute that provides Transport Canada-approved marine training. Facilities for marine training include the Oceans Innovation Centre, a wave tank, a fire training centre, and state-of-the-art simulators for propulsion systems, navigation and global communications. Students enjoy a spacious and friendly campus environment, amazing outdoor spaces and trails, as well as excellent recreation fitness and entertainment services that are offered in the area year-round. The Strait Area Campus also offers programs in Wagmatcook First Nation at the renovated Wagmatcook Learning Centre.
