We want our Multicultural Calendar to be simple, easy to understand, and specific for Unama’ki-Cape
Breton. We include major celebrations/important dates for the most common countries of origin for
local foreign-born residents in our communities. Some of the dates we include on the calendar are
celebrated in many countries or regions. Having accurate information is important to us so when
researching the dates, we look at multiple online sources, verify the details as best we can, and write 2-3
short sentences in plain language, while encouraging community members to learn more.
