Día del Ejército/Army Day
In Guatemala, Army Day is celebrated every June 30, with the aim of remembering the importance of this institution for the cultural, historical and economic context of our country.
The army is currently a pillar of democracy, sovereignty, security and social peace in Guatemala. But the commemoration has its origin because in 1871, Generals Miguel García Granados and Justo Rufino Barrios declared themselves victorious after a battle against the government of Vicente Cerna.
